What is an Arm Lift?

Description of plstic surgery and cosmetic procedures

Arm Lift

An arm lift is a cosmetic procedure that is also known as a "brachioplasty". With an arm lift, patients are able to reshape the under portion of the upper arm to rid excess skin and fat from the actual appearance of the arm. The procedure can be done from the elbow to the underarm region of each arm for the best results.

As individuals grow older or gain weight, the physical appearance of the arms may change, causing them to sag and gain fat. Although it is possible for physical exercise to help reduce the appearance of sagging in the arms, sometimes an arm lift is the best solution depending on the patient's individual case and desires.

Arm lifts help to reduce excess fat and skin that has built up over time beneath the elbow all the way to the underarm of both arms (or one depending on your needs). You can also reshape your entire arm with an arm lift to result in contours and smoother appearing skin that includes less sagging skin and fat. Additionally, once the arm lift is complete, it is possible to enjoy a more proportionate appearance and have arms that look completely toned.

Many times with an arm lift, a scar may appear in the inside of your upper arm, where the entrance is made for the surgical procedure. After you have had an arm lift procedure completed, it may only take 2 to 3 days to full recovery. During the recovery process, you may experience mild discomfort and pain as your wounds heal and your arm gets readjusted to its new shape and weight.

Speaking with your cosmetic surgeon about an arm lift before opting for the procedure is highly recommended to determine whether or not the treatment is right for you based on your age and desires.
